They all left because the empire had fallen, and the white birds that were brought later left for the same reason. There’s something magical involved that I don’t actually understand; short stories have a way of getting away from me.

I was thinking about taking this sketch and expanding on it–turning it into a mask that some furry little monster is in the process of putting on or something. The idea has been popping into my head ever since I drew it. =P

My take on it is that they’re confused because they were netted from their perches before dawn, stuffed in a sack, and taken to the tower…
